Going for the Green!
The Student Green Fee was introduced in 2006 to fund initiatives that have a positive impact on students by supporting socially responsible green practices on college campuses. The fee is not intended to offset college expenses. Rather, it is designed to support projects that are non-academic in scope and sustainable, in turn reducing the carbon footprint of Centennial College.
Do you have an idea that’s Going for the Green? We’d like to know about it. Here’s how.
Develop and Submit a Proposal
1. Develop a proposal. Ensure it includes the following information:
- Details of the project showing how it is supportive of socially responsible green practices
- Estimate of cost
- Rationale for how your project will impact students positively
- Statement of how your proposal reflects the College’s mission, vision and values
Note: Your proposal must also meet Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities’ (MTCU) Fees Policy criteria. This means that your proposal for use of the Green Fee:
- may not be used for anything that is supported by the Tuition Fee
- may support the purchase of materials that are retained by the student
- must benefit all students and not specific groups of students
- may fund improved energy efficiency of campus buildings only if those buildings are loaned/leased by the student government
2. Submit your Green proposals at www.studentvoices.ca/gfc no later than June 19 at 4:00 pm.

Your proposal will be reviewed by the “Going for the Green” Selection Committee who will consider all proposals that meet the above criteria. Eligible proposals will be reviewed and the winning project(s) will be chosen.
